These Interior Design Trends Are On Their Way Out
Trends come and go quickly (hello, dark wood paneling) and there are quite a few on the way out in 2020. Joybird surveyed Americans to find out which interior design trends they’re looking forward to this spring, as well as those that they believe are on their way out.
Some of the most notable design trends that survey respondents said they were tired of were:
Sliding Barn Doors - 20% (unless they’re a gorgeous turquoise color like the one on our homepage!)
Burnt Orange – 18%
Embroidery – 13%
Granite Countertops – 11%
Accent Walls – 10%
Sea Green – 6%
As for what the respondents said they loved, cobalt blue, navy and emerald green topped the color list, while the 1970s (bright colors and retro aesthetic), 2000s (all white, neutrals) and 1960s (modern shapes, pops of color) were the favorite decades. Modern, minimalist and mid-century modern were the three interior design styles respondents felt were most likely to dominate 2020.
This survey really highlights why it’s a great idea to hire a professional interior designer. We stay at the forefront of upcoming trends and we also know what will never go out of style and will always be classic. By integrating functionality with advances, including technical advances, we can improve the functional aspects of your space, while also ensuring it’s gorgeous.
That being said, remember, interior design is a personal decision and your home should reflect what makes you happy. So, you don’t need to trash those burnt orange accessories if you love them but we can always help you incorporate them in a way that works for the times.
